Microsoft Now Owns Motion-Detection Tech

File this one in the “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” category.  It seems that Microsoft may be gearing up to take on the Wii’s motion-sensing capabilities, as new reports have the Redmond-based company buying a maker of motion-detection technology.

Here’s a word of warning: we’re not claiming that this device is ready for mainstream adoption.  But then, neither are some of the other interesting technologies explored on this blog, so with that out of the way, it has to be said that Amazon’s new Kindle 2 is kind of cool.

It’s hard not to view all flight-capable vehicles as aerodynamic miracles; a cautious man wouldn’t add or remove even a pimple-sized bump for fear of bringing down all that metal.  But DARPA scientists have apparently decided that changing the length of a helicopter’s blades while it’s in flight sounds grand.
