Here Comes the Xbox 360 - Refreshed!

Microsoft’s “Zephyr” was leaked to the press complete with HDMI, 120GB hard drive and 65nm processor.
According to Engadget, the Xbox 360 v2 (codenamed Zephyr) should result in a cooler console as the the 90nm IBM Xenon PowerPC processor was swapped out in favor of a 65nm revision. This has not been officially announced yet.
Xbox-Scene has posted new images and a video of the new HDMI-equipped Xbox 360. The images include a clearer shot of the back of the console along with motherboard shots which show off a new HANA scaler chip. However, when contacted, Microsoft said - “We have seen all types of claimed leaked photos like this show up online and as a standard policy we don’t comment on speculative items.”
There is also a single HDMI port for full 1080p support — no firmware trickery needed. Also on the way is a 120GB hard drive which would double the capacity of Sony’s top-ranging PS3. There’s no word yet if Microsoft has seen fit to quiet the banshee-like DVD drive, but we can only hope that the answer is yes. Report from DailyTech.

that would be great. Maybe if the 360 was out for longer then 1 year and 2 months. They need to put their mines into something good and worth it like halo 3. not worried about another system already

This is great news! i simply hope i can get the cash to buy it if and when it is released. It sounds solid all around and if all of this is true it will mean much less overheating, no need for extra hard drives or mem cards, and best of all we can finally get a no “trickery needed” 1080i experience which will make gears halo3 and all the other games make the PS3 look even more worthless

And for the price, it should be a killer deal!

I do pity the people who have already bought the Xbox 360. But then again, they’ve enjoyed more than a year with the Xbox 360.
Since the prices of materials have fallen, Microsoft is expected to keep the price of the Zephyr pretty low, low enough for the PS3 to get a big hit.

This would piss off a lot of XBox 360 owners; it’d be a great disservice to those who already own the system. If they do pull something off like this then I’d hope MS would have some kind of exchange program where they could replace their current 360 for the new one in addition to whatever additional costs they might set up for the exchange. That would appease those with the older systems.

@ Ash,
The idea of an exchange program is excellent, but that would have a negative impact on Microsoft’’s profits. Replacing the ‘currect 360 for the new one in addition to whatever additional costs’ would mean they would incurr a loss equivalent to each Xbox 360 sold till date, plus the additional costs. Now that isn’t a very good marketing technique.
Also, where would all those returned 360s go? Waste of material don’t you say?

Man that is homo. Those of us who already bought an xbox 360 are all going to be pissed if it really comes out. Microsoft better have something for us as well as we already spent our money on an ‘obsolete product’ only a year after it came out. Anyways i will probable get a new one anyways
