How To: Shift from Blogger to WordPress
Published by Sunny on February 14th, 2007 in WordPress, WordPress tipsI’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about the Blogger and WordPress blogging platforms recently, and being a WordPress fan that I am, I decided to push people into accepting WordPress as their medium of blogging. Sure, there are plenty of reasons why WordPress wins hands down against Blogger, but I won’t get into detail about that now.
So lets get started on shifting your blog from Blogger to WordPress shall we?
1. Assuming you have already created a WordPress.com hosted blog (ie. yourself.wordpress.com), log into it.
2. Next navigate to Manage -> Import
3. Click on Blogger. You should now be on this screen:
4. Click on the Authorize button and log in to your new Blogger account.
5. You will now see this screen:
6. Click on the Grant Access button.
7. You will then be taken back to your WordPress Admin Panel. Click on the Import button.
8. Once the posts have been imported, you can set the authors by clicking on the Set Authors button. You will then be taken to this screen:
Click on Save Changes, and thats it! You have successfully imported all your posts from your New Blogger account into your WordPress account. Now that wasn’t too hard was it? You can give yourself a pat on the back and get yourself a nice (diet) coke knowing that you are now supported by a huge community.
And finally, I’d like to express my gratitude towards Imageshack for hosting all of the images in this tutorial.
PS> I am well aware that posting a comment on this site will throw up an error. However, be assured that once you have submit the comment, it would have been saved in the database and refreshing the page will show you your comment (and yes, we are working on the problem).

Your web server is not properly configured to use this importer. Please enable the CURL extension for PHP and then reload this page.

err..Funpic.org
btw wordpress import works only for old blogger now[that’s what the options say—import posts and comments from old blogger]….

Sameer - just a thought - maybe funpic does not allow certain server side scripts to be run.
And Sameer, do try importing via RSS. Its worked for many!
