Making Internet Explorer-only Websites work on Opera
Published by Sunny on March 27th, 2007 in Internet, Tips and TricksIf you’re tired of the “This site requires Internet Explorer to work” notice, then you’ll probably love this tip, provided you use Opera 9 to browse the internet.
Many sites such as the BSNL Portal, require that you use Internet Explorer to visit the site. Its annoying, especially since IE lacks many of the features that Opera and Firefox have. However, there is a workaround to this. By using Opera’s in-built Site Preferences option, you can surf any Internet Explorer-only sites from Opera. Here’s how:
- Navigate to the site you want to visit. It will probably show up the “IE required” error.
Right-click anywhere on the site, and click on the Edit Site Preferences from the menu that follows.
Next, navigate to the Network tab and from the Browser Identification drop-down box, choose Mask as Internet Explorer.
- Save the changes and reload the page. It should work now.
Happy surfing!
