Some Good Plugins I use in my WP blogs

Many people have asked me what plugins I use in TechnoBeta. To tell you the truth, its not just TechnoBeta, but whatever plugin I use, I use it for all my sites.

I have made a list of all the plugins that I use along with the link from where you can download them. Feel free to suggest me some plugins that you find useful.

  1. Add Meta Tags - Adds the Description and Keywords XHTML META tags to your blog’s front page and to each one of the posts, static pages and category archives. This operation is automatic, but the generated META tags can be fully customized.
  2. Adsense-Deluxe - Place Google AdSense ads in your WordPress Posts.
  3. Akismet - Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it.
  4. Dagon Design Sitemap Generator - Generates a customizable sitemap containing all posts and pages. (still haven’t generated the sitemap for TechnoBeta though!)
  5. Feeder - This plugin is a RSS 2.0 feed reader. It reads the feed provided and displays the title and its link. Currently available only to me! :)
  6. Get Recent Comments - Display the most recent comments or trackbacks with your own formatting in the sidebar.
  7. Google Sitemaps - This generator will create a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog and will also ping Google!
  8. Landing sites - When visitors are referred to your site from a search engine, they are definitely looking for something specific - often they just roughly check the page they land on and then closes the window if what they are looking for isn’t there. Why not help them by showing them related posts to their search on your blog? This plugin/guide lets you do that, works with a long list of search engines! Whats best is that it includes the Related Posts plugin!
  9. Popularity Contest - This will enable ranking of your posts by popularity; using the behavior of your visitors to determine each post’s popularity. I use this to display the Most Read posts (seen in the footer).
  10. Recent Posts - Returns a list of the most recent posts.
  11. Secure and Accessible PHP Contact Form - This powerful yet easy-to-install contact form features exceptional accessibility and usability while still providing extensive anti-spam and anti-exploit security features.
  12. Show Top Commentators - Encourage more feedback and discussion from readers, by rewarding them every time they post a comment! Readers with the most comments are displayed on your Wordpress blog, with their names (linked to their website if they provided one). This provides them with a genuine link back to their site!
  13. Subscribe To Comments - Allows readers to recieve notifications of new comments that are posted to an entry.
  14. WordPress Database Backup - On-demand backup of your WordPress database.
  15. Customizable Post Listings - Display Recent Posts, Recently Commented Posts, Recently Modified Posts, Random Posts, and other post listings using the post information of your choosing in an easily customizable manner. You can narrow post searches by specifying categories and/or authors, among other things.
  16. FeedWordPress - A very simple and flexible Atom/RSS syndication for WordPress.

Other than these, I have made lots of customizations in the form of JavaScripts, HTML and PHP hacks here and there, and I even have my own Ad Server! (the ad you see at the top is served from my Ad Server. Hmm… maybe I can start my own Ad Network eh? :) ).
