TechnoBeta Blog Now Available in Ten Languages
Published by Sunny on March 25th, 2007 in TechnoBeta Status, WordPress tipsThats right, TechnoBeta Blog is now available in 10 languages, ranging from French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and of course, English.
Looking at the traffic stats, it was clear that I was getting a good amount of traffic from other countries such as Germany and Italy. I wanted to exploit the most of this and decided to give a try at translation plugins for WordPress.
Through Google, I came across many sites offering the translation plugin for WordPress in particular, and it was a hard choice to make. Lorelle too had put up a big list of translation plugins. Though choosing a good multilingual plugin proved a challenge, I decided that the Global Translator Plugin by Davide Pozza was what I needed. It provides translation in 10 different languages that I pointed out earlier, and it had the languages that I was mainly looking for - Italian and German. Apart from German and Italian traffic, I hope that this plugin allows me to tap into the Asian traffic as well.
The only drawback of such plugins is that they make use of the Google or Babelfish translation tools. If you have tried them at any point of time, you would realize that they are not really perfect in translation. This could potentially lead to a misinterpretation. So be prepared for such circumstances.
Please take the time to report any bugs that you find, it would be of great help to the blog.
