The Crazy World of Domain Names

I’ve been after an expired domain since the past month now. I’ve been mostly secretive about it and haven’t told anyone. Recently, I was browsing TDNAM when something really caught hold of my eye. There it was, at the right hand corner, under the title “Most Active Auctions” was the domain ProBlogger.com.

If you haven’t been hiding under a rock all these days, you’ll probably know that Darren Rowse has made a good name for himself with his blog about making money, ProBlogger.net. ProBlogger is ranked 2,327 in Alexa and commands a good deal of respect from the online community. The domain however, is not a .com domain. The .com does not belong to Rowse, but to one Matt Winkler (no, not the Microsoft guy).

The Problogger.com domain has recieved 25 bids with the current bid being $775 with four days left for the auction to end.

So if you still haven’t got yourself a domain that has one of its TLD making good ground, then I’d say you get yourself one now. The future of Internet Domains is expanding rapidly. You may never know, that seven dollars you invest now might just make you a cool 3-figure mark in the near future!

And just incase you were thinking of buying an expired domain, you might want to checkout Mike Davidson’s article on “how to snatch expired domain names“.
