Xohm lives, and it’s in the inbox
Published by Sunny on June 13th, 2008 in MobileSprint’s high-speed WiMax service, Xohm, has been silent aside from a deal with Clearwire to make it happen. To our surprise, Sprint’s starting to market Xohm to potential customers again.
Wireless Internet service doesn’t have to happen at yawn-inducing speeds. We were all excited about Sprint launching Xohm and promising to bring WiMax to the masses, and disappointed when a new CEO arrived.
Instead of the new guy taking the pipe wrench to Xohm’s knees, they partnered with Clearwire and said they would roll this service out for customers. They’ve been silent for a while, but someone stopped by the Xohm marketing office with espresso and Red Bull to wake up the crew.
They in turn put out a note about the Clearwire deal, the money Intel, Google, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, and Brighthouse Networks have to spend on the new company ($3.2 billion!) and the preferred driving machine for WiMax speeds - the Nokia N810.
We’re surprised to see Skype is available on any Nokia Internet Tablet, like the N810. Anyone care to bet if Sprint kills that functionality when their WiMax goes live?
